L&J’s Junk Removal started on Hickory Road outside Virginia, Illinois in August of 2022. Owner Jesse Garmon still answers the phone, still loads the trailer, and still texts you thirty minutes before the crew pulls in.
That line has been on our Facebook page since the beginning, and it is still the whole business plan. Jesse Garmon opened L&J’s Junk Removal in August 2022 with a truck, a dump trailer, and the idea that people in small-town Central Illinois should not have to load a mess themselves or drive it to the landfill to get rid of it.
The first jobs were garages, basements, and single pieces of furniture around Virginia, Beardstown, and Jacksonville. Word moved the way it does out here: a neighbor saw the trailer in a driveway, a landlord needed a rental turned over, a family needed help with a house after a loss. Within a year the phone was ringing from Springfield, Petersburg, and Winchester too.
Customers kept asking the same question: can we just rent the trailer and load it ourselves? So we added 15 and 20 yard driveway-friendly dumpsters, then stretched the rentals from one day up to seven when people told us a weekend was not always enough. When the calls started coming in for overgrown lots and fence lines, we put a bush hog, a skid steer, and a tractor to work alongside the trailers.
We are still a small family crew. Jesse is on most jobs. The same two or three people who quote your job are the ones who show up, load it, sweep the driveway, and haul it off. For junk removal and cleanouts the crew brings the truck and a trailer, loads everything, and hauls it the same trip. Furniture, appliances, hot tubs, construction debris, a basement packed wall to wall. We have done all of it more than once, and the reviews will tell you how it went.
