Two ways to do it

We carry it out, or you load a dumpster during the remodel.

For a fridge, a washer and dryer, or a garage full of dead appliances, full-service is the easy call. We unhook what needs unhooking and carry it out. If the appliances are coming out as part of a kitchen or basement remodel, a driveway dumpster lets you toss them in with the cabinets and drywall.

Recycled, not buried

Appliance removal that ends at the recycler, not the landfill.

Searching appliance removal near me turns up plenty of trucks, but most appliances are largely steel and copper and should never go to the landfill. L&J’s is a family crew out of Virginia, IL that hauls appliances to a scrap recycler, and makes sure fridges, freezers, and air conditioners have their refrigerant handled and recycled properly before the metal is processed.

  • Refrigerator disposal and freezer disposal with the refrigerant handled and recycled properly, never vented in your driveway
  • Washer dryer disposal that starts with us disconnecting the water lines and the vent, not you
  • Appliance disposal for stoves, dishwashers, water heaters, and window units from any floor of the house
  • Scrap metal pickup for grills, mowers, bed frames, and shop scrap, hauled to the recycler with the appliances
  • Appliance pickup for landlords and remodelers in Jacksonville, Springfield, Beardstown, and the towns between

FAQ

Appliance removal questions people ask.

How much does appliance removal cost in Jacksonville, IL?

L&J’s Junk Removal prices it as a flat rate based on what the appliance is and where it sits. A fridge on the first floor and a washer and dryer at the bottom of a basement stairwell are different jobs, and the price reflects that before we come, not after. Text a photo to (217) 624-7066 or use the free estimate form and you get a number back, usually the same day.

Who does appliance pickup near Springfield and Beardstown, IL?

L&J’s Junk Removal is the local answer when you search appliance pickup near me from Springfield, Beardstown, Jacksonville, Petersburg, Ashland, Chatham, or any town across Cass, Morgan, and Sangamon County. We are a family-owned crew with 88 five-star Google reviews, and we carry the appliance out of the house ourselves instead of asking you to get it to the curb. Call or text (217) 624-7066.

Do you take refrigerators and freezers with freon?

Yes. L&J’s Junk Removal does refrigerator removal and freezer removal every week, and the refrigerant is handled and recycled properly, never released in your driveway. Bring nothing to the curb, we take it from the kitchen, garage, or basement. Refrigerator pickup can be booked on its own or with the rest of a cleanout. Text a photo to (217) 624-7066 for a flat price.

Can you remove a washer and dryer from my basement?

Yes. Washer and dryer removal from a basement is one of the most common calls L&J’s Junk Removal gets, especially in older homes in Jacksonville and Springfield with narrow stairs and a turn at the bottom. We shut off the water, disconnect the hoses and vent, and dolly both units up and out. Photos of the units and the stairs help, so send them for a free estimate or text (217) 624-7066.

Do you recycle old appliances or do they go to the landfill?

L&J’s Junk Removal takes appliances to a scrap metal recycler rather than the landfill. Steel, copper, and aluminum are recovered, and fridges, freezers, and air conditioners have the refrigerant handled and recycled properly first. Appliance disposal done this way keeps a lot of weight out of the dump. Ask about it when you text (217) 624-7066.

Do you take TVs, computers, and other electronics?

Yes. L&J’s Junk Removal takes TVs, monitors, computers, printers, and small electronics for recycling along with appliances. E waste disposal rules in Illinois keep most electronics out of the regular trash, so TV disposal is a common add-on to an appliance or basement pickup. Old flat screens and tube TVs are both fine. Text a photo of what you have to (217) 624-7066.

Should I rent a dumpster or hire junk removal for appliances?

For one to three appliances, hire L&J’s crew. You pay for one trip and never lift a fridge. If the appliances are coming out during a kitchen or basement remodel with cabinets, flooring, and drywall, a 15 or 20 yard dumpster for the week is usually the better deal. Text photos to (217) 624-7066 and we will price both so you can pick.

Do you pick up scrap metal along with appliances?

Yes. L&J’s Junk Removal does scrap metal pickup for grills, lawn mowers, bed frames, exercise equipment, shop scrap, and farm scrap across Cass, Morgan, and Sangamon County. It rides to the recycler with the appliances, so it makes sense to clear the whole pile at once. Drain fuel from mowers and generators first. Text a photo of the pile to (217) 624-7066.

Do I need to unhook the appliance before you arrive?

No. L&J’s Junk Removal disconnects water lines, dryer vents, and dishwasher hookups as part of the job. Gas appliances should have the gas shut off and capped by you or your plumber before we arrive, and the fridge should be emptied. Beyond that, leave it where it is. Request a free estimate or text (217) 624-7066 to set it up.

Ready to haul it off?
